Conditions that we treat:

Frames Version

Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can treat many symptoms and conditions.  They are especially effective in treating physical symptoms that are related to the tension and stress of modern life.  Both the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health recognize Chinese Medicine to be effective in treating a wide variety of conditions, including:

Orthopedic (Pain) Symptoms:

Neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, tendonitis, arthritis, auto accident injury, foot pain including plantar fasciitis, and fibromyalgia.

    Miscellaneous Syndromes:

Weight Loss, Metabolic Syndrome, Restless Leg Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia.

Neurological Symptoms:

Headaches, sciatica, numbness, muscle weakness, Bell's Palsy, tremors, paralysis, and seizures.

Respiratory, and Ear, Nose, and Throat  Disorders:

Common cold, flu, asthma, sinusitis, sore throat, bronchitis, Allergies, TMJ, vertigo, ear ringing, and recurrent respiratory infections

Psychiatric / Emotional Symptoms:

Insomnia, anxiety, depression, tension, stress, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and ADD, or ADHD.

Digestive Symptoms:

Stomach or abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, IBS, anemia, fatigue, and acid reflux.

Traditional Chinese Therapies that we use:

Acupuncture:

The use of Sterile, Stainless Steel needles used to stimulate specific points in the body. The needles can either be inserted painlessly or a non-insertion technique can be used. Acupuncture has proven effectiveness to promote the flow of Qi ( energy ) and Blood in the body, and to stimulate healthy organ and immune system function. For more information about Acupuncture see our Acupuncture page.

No-Needle Acupuncture:

Because some of our patients are very sensitive we offer a variety of no-needle treatment options. The best option will vary for every patient and their condition. These o ptions include Acupressure (see below), Japanese Non-insertion techniques, Chinese Herbal therapy, and EFT. If you are interested in these techniques please let us know on your first visit. return to top

Acupressure:

Manual stimulation of Acupuncture points and meridians. In most cases, acupressure is like massage therapy in that it feels good and is relaxing. However, Acupressure is therapeutic in a different way than massage therapy because it uses Chinese Medical principles to govern the treatment.

Acupressure is great for: Young children, Headaches, Back pain and digestive symptoms

Chinese Herbs:

Chinese Herbology is a very well developed science, and a particular interest of mine. Many people use just herbs in their practice. Statistically, Chinese herbs are significantly safer than prescription drugs. At Orlando Acupuncture we use American made products (usually pills) that are double tested for potency and purity. Herbs are also available in liquid, and powder forms. For skin conditions herbs are prepared as topical ointments. All of our herbal products are available to the public at our Winter Park location. For more about Chinese Herbs look at our "Herbs" page.

Conditions helped by herbs: Allergies, Asthma, ADD/ADHD, Hot Flashes, Hypertension, Digestive symptoms, Insomnia, Psoriasis, to name a few.

Dietary Therapy:

Closely related to herbal therapy. Herbs are often different parts of the same plants that we eat for food. So foods work like herbs, but are less potent. We often help our patients make easy changes to their diets that improve their symptoms and increase their energy. For more information about Nutrition click here.

Symptoms treated: same as for herbs, but more mild.

Cupping:

The application of glass cups to the body. Usually done on the back. This is another way of stimulating acupuncture points. Suction is achieved by using a flame to generate a vacum inside the glass cup. This method is very good for cleaning out toxins and releasing very tight muscles.

Symptoms treated: Bronchitis, Fibromyalgia, Shoulder Pain

Moxa or Heat Therapy:

The application of therapeutic heat to the body. Traditionally done by burning herbs, specifically, Mugwort, either on the skin, over the skin or on acupuncture needles. In our office we use a special infrared heat lamp along with topical herbs to achieve safe and effective clinical results.

Symptoms treated: stiff neck, back pain, tendonitis, etc.

We work with United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Beechstreet, and many other insurance companies. Verify your benefits online here.
