John Barnett, AP About John Barnett, AP - Clinic Director

John Barnett has a unique background and training. He did his undergraduate studies in physics at the University of Florida. He then went to California to study at the prestigious Yo San University. Yo San was founded by two brothers who have over 37 generations of family lineage in Chinese Medicine. John has worked with other health care professionals including Physical therapists, Massage therapists, chiropractors, and M.D.s to expand the field of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

John’s training in Chinese herbs is uncommon in Florida. He often makes custom herb formulas for patients when their conditions require more intensive treatment. He also teaches Tai-Ji / Qi Gong and gives Health Talks on a variety of subjects in the community on a regular basis. If you would like us to come and speak to your group or organization please let us know.

John is also developing Orlando Wellness to deliver improved health and wellness on a large scale to local companies or corporations. Contact our office to learn more about this.

Personal Statement from John Barnett, AP

E= mc2 : This equation defines the relationship between matter and energy. At the University of Florida I studied this and numerous other equations and concepts while I was in the honors physics program. This experience gave me a deep appreciation of what this equation tells us about the natural world, and how physical matter and energy interact. At the forefront of modern science is the search for a single rule or understanding of how all phenomena in the universe function. While in school I stumbled across an ancient Chinese text that revealed this understanding. The book is the 2500 yr old Hua Hu Ching, a less well known work by the author of the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu. I was amazed to discover that the ancient Chinese had developed a sophisticated understanding of these natural laws and the forces that govern all life. Upon further study I also found out that the Chinese applied this knowledge to human life as a foundation to the complete medical system of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

It was this understanding that attracted me to Chinese Medicine. Using their knowledge of energy relationships the Chinese have developed a unique system of medicine that is very powerful. Chinese Medicine recognizes disease as an imbalance of the body’s natural energy. Healing is achieved by simply rebalancing the body’s energy. Because the physical state of the body is “mirrored” by its energy configuration balancing of a person’s energy will alter their physical health and well being. This also means that Chinese Medicine can be used to treat conditions that have unknown physical mechanisms or causes such as emotional disorders and fibromyalgia.
In my experience I have seen firsthand how this energy rebalancing, Acupuncture, can eliminate pain instantly, and provide lasting relief from a wide variety of symptoms. By combining Acupuncture with Chinese Herbal Medicine and other facets of Chinese Medicine dramatic results can be obtained. These results have been verified by modern scientific studies that confirm their effectiveness.

We are entering a new era in health care, an era that recognizes the importance of preventive medicine. Chinese Medicine transcends the common health paradigm of using prescription drugs to treat symptoms rather then people. Chinese Medicine focuses on restoring health by considering the totality of an person and all of their symptoms. Acupuncture, herbs, and other modalities are the used to balance the person and restore harmony, rather the simply treating individual symptoms.
